Established in 1983 to cater to the educational needs of the children of Central Government employees, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pragati Vihar, shifted to its new and beautifully constructed building at the beginning of the 2003-2004 academic session. Its campus spans four acres in the prestigious institutional-cum-residential area of Lodhi Road. It possesses adequate facilities for both academic and co-curricular activities for approximately 1,200 students. Currently, it has a staff of 44 members.

The academic session begins on April 1st and concludes on March 31st of the following year.
